Now, like I'd promised, here is the post about what colors can go with what. Because you know you have those moments when you go to put something on, and you aren't sure whether it matches or goes together, and you change what you're wearing five times, hoping you look good, haha.
In design school, we lived by the color wheel. In the fashion world, the rules are somewhat the same, but a bit different. I searched a bit online, and came across this fashion site...
1. Colors directly next to each other (i.e. yellow and yellow-orange; yellow and yellow-green; violet and blue-violet, etc.)
2. Colors that form right (90 degree) angles with each other (i.e. yellow and red-orange; blue and violet-red; green and yellow-orange, etc.)
3. Colors directly across from each other (i.e. yellow and violet; blue and orange; red an green, etc.)
4. Colors that form a T (i.e. blue, orange, and violet-red; yellow, violet, and red-orange; yellow, blue-green, and red-orange, etc.)
5. Colors that form an X (i.e. blue, orange, violet-red, yellow-green; and yellow, violet, blue-green, and red-orange, etc.)
Since brown is a neutral, it will go with virtually any color on the color wheel. Of course, white, black, and the hues of blue found in denim are also neutrals that go with just about anything.
What I did, so I never forget, is printed the color wheel out, and taped it to the wall inside my closet. I've gotten pretty good at putting clothes together, but there are those mornings when I'm having a brain fart, or I'm just not sure.
Now when you're looking at your closet, and picking out what to wear for the day, just remember the color wheel and the five tips!
Same goes for the jewelry and accessories you add to your outfit!

Pretty in PINK
For Christmas this year, one of my gifts was this PINK shirt. I love Victoria's Secret, but they are just way too expensive!! I usually only buy bras there when they're on sale, underwear - when they have the 7/$25 deal, or when something is on clearance (at a descent price).
But you can see how adorable this shirt is, hence why I love gifts, and gift cards, from here!
Target is another great place to get deals, as most of you may know. Plus if you sign up for the Target Red Card, you can save 5% each time!
Another one of my favorite places to shop (online) is Ebay - especially for jewelry! Sometimes it may take awhile, because it's coming all the way from China, but the prices are almost always under $5, and the shipping is usually always free. Hooray!

Shirt: Victoria's Secret (gift)
Necklace: Ebay ($3)
Jacket: Wet Seal ($27.65 on clearance)
Jeans: Target ($18)
Shoes: (I got these at a shoe store in the mall, on clearance, for about $15)
Total Outfit: (approx.) $68.15

Holiday Dress Up
I don't know about you guys, but the holidays always give me a reason to dress up a little bit more than I usually would. So for this Christmas, I decided to show off some leg (because living in southern California, you can do that in the winter, lol).
Dress: Forever 21 ($12.50)
Belt: Wet Seal ($10.50)
Boyfriend Sweater: Target ($13)
Necklace: Wet Seal ($8)
Shoes: Target ($24.99)
Pea Coat: Wet Seal ($39.50)
Total Outfit: $108.49
If you couldn't tell, I'm quite a big fan of Wet Seal. They always have great prices and awesome deals. And I forgot to tell you earlier, that if you join their Fashion Insider program, you receive 20% off your first purchase, and then 10% off every purchase after that! And what's even better, they always have a 5/$20 deal for tanks, plain tees, and leggings. Plus a buy-one-get-one-50%-off deal for jewelry!
My boyfriend knows I love this place so much, that for my birthday, anniversaries, and Christmas, he'll usual get me a gift card :) I did some shopping at there today with the $100 gift card he got me for Christmas, along with some extra spending cash I got. (Pictures of what I got, to come soon!!!)
A Little Bit Preppy
Here's an outfit that's a bit on the "preppy" side, but still casual.
Buttoned Collared Sleeveless Shirt: Wetseal (I believe I got this on clearance for around $8)
Jeans: (I've had these for awhile, but probably didn't pay any more than $20)
Shoes: (I got these at a shoe store in the mall, on clearance, for about $15)
Total Outfit: (approx.) $90.80
Again, the total price seems like a lot for just one outfit, but you can mix and match to make other outfits. You can even where this same outfit without the sweater, or without the buttoned collared shirt underneath.
**I will be making a new post soon about what colors you can match with what! :)

Business With a Bit of Sass
Although it's been a bit cold these days, I can't help but wear a pencil skirt to work. It makes me feel a bit "hippy," but I try to look at it as having "sexy curves," haha.
Blouse: Wet Seal (on clearance $12)
Pencil Skirt: Windsor (on sale $16)
Belt: Wet Seal (approx. $8)
Necklace: Wet Seal on clearance (approx. $6 - originally $12.50)
Pea Coat: Burlington Coat Factory (approx. $60)
Boots: Marshalls (approx. $25 - originally $55)
Total Outfit: (approx.) $127
(without pea coat - $67!)
Putting it altogether, price-wise, it may seem a bit expensive, but each of these items can make an infinite amount of other outfits, which in turn saves you. And if you always have a coupon or promo code when buying these pieces, you will save there, too. It's also a plus when you look for clearance items - sometimes you can find a great steal, like the necklace I'm wearing! Also, going to stores like Marshalls, will usually save you up to 30-50% off the original price - like the boots.
For this outfit, putting similar colors together makes for a perfect match, while keeping it simple. This is great for those who are just starting out with dressing fab.
Fashion Beginner
Growing up, I was always two to three years late when it came to what was hip in the fashion world. Even though I was the oldest of six kids, and didn't have to suffer from hand-me-downs, getting new clothes was a privilege. And going through puberty a bit early, didn't help - being taller and a bit bigger than all my classmates made me a bit self conscience. So, jeans and sweats with a sweatshirt was my normal wardrobe (especially in junior high).
About half way through high school, I lost a bit of weight and got a job, so I was able to buy the clothes that were "in," while they were still hip. However, not used to being so thin, I was still very self conscience about my body.
After graduating, and going to a few different colleges (because I couldn't make up my mind when it came to choosing a major), I never really had a job that was worth "dressing" for - working with kids, you don't necessarily want to be wearing anything nice. But now that I finally got my dream job as an interior designer, and I have my own office, my fashion sense has come full force.
Now what girl does not love shopping? I know I do! However, when I shop, I am always looking for a deal of some sorts. Whether it's an online promo code, waiting for a coupon in the mail, or using a gift card. I rarely ever pay full price when I go clothes/shoe shopping.
I have gotten lots of compliments on my outfits recently, and have even been told to put a picture of one on Pinterest (which I did)! So, now I want to share my daily outfits and secrets of buying with you.
Now, even though I am once again struggling with my weight, I have fought back my embarrassment of not wearing what I want, just because I'm a little bit bigger than I used to be. I have matured and realized that I can still look good, no matter what weight I am at. You always hear those women who say they don't want to dress fashionable because they aren't happy with their weight, and until they lose that weight, they just dress in drab. That's how I felt for awhile, but everyone goes through their own struggle of weight loss, and it can take who knows how long to lose that extra weight. So, why wait that long to look good? That's why I'm here, to tell you about how to dress fab, without breaking the bank!
I hope you find my blog helpful, and enjoy :)
